The energy saving project provides for the implementation of building works and energy-saving measures to achieve energy efficiency of Class “A” building of “Lyuben Karavelov” Primary School in Peshtera.
The project is financed by the Recovery and Sustainability Mechanism, Investment “Modernisation of Educational Infrastructure” in the implementation of the National Plan for Recovery and Sustainability of the Republic of Bulgaria. The total value of the grant is BGN 2,468,136. The implementation period of the investment is 24 months.
The aim of the project is to create conditions for equal access to education by establishing an innovative and supportive educational environment, which contributes to increasing motivation for learning and self-learning, as well as improving the educational results of the students from “Lyuben Karavelov” Primary School.
The measures include thermal insulation of the external walls, roof and floor, replacement of windows, repair of the water and sewage system, internal repairs in the rooms. To ensure an accessible environment, the construction of external and internal ramps and platforms is envisaged. The project also foresees the replacement of lighting fixtures with energy-efficient LED lamps. A fire alarm and lightning protection system will be installed.
For the utilization of energy from renewable energy sources, the project foresees an installation of air-water chillers, devices for measuring, control and management, as well as the construction of a photovoltaic installation of 40 kW-peak on the roof of the building, which will cover: 65% of the heating needs of the building and 50% of the needs of the building for lighting, appliances and other consumptions. The next phase of the project is the delivery and assembly of equipment and furnishings, as well as the creation of mass-gathering spaces for students.
The opening was attended by the Mayor of Peshtera Municipality, Mr. Yordan Mladenov, the Chairman of Peshtera Municipal Council, Mr. Vasil Filev, the Deputy Mayor Mrs. Galabina Karamitreva, the Secretary of Peshtera Municipality, Mrs. Galina Stoyanova, representatives of the contracting companies, the construction supervising institution and the project designers.
In front of the teachers, students and guests, Mr. Mladenov expressed his pleasure with the renovation of the educational infrastructure. He thanked the team that worked so far for the successful steps. He wished success and that the project will bring added value to the school users for many years ahead.
The director of “Lyuben Karavelov” Primary School, Mrs. Velichka Vassileva, pointed out that today is a special and memorable day for her. This is an investment in the future, the headmistress emphasized.
